Global Investor Program (GIP)

GIP Application

What is the Global Investor Programme?

The Global Investor Programme (GIP) is administered by a division under the Economic Development Board (EDB), Contact Singapore. The GIP is for investors who have a strong background in entrepreneurship and are looking to invest and grow their businesses in Singapore. You may download the GIP factsheet and obtain the enquiry form through the EDB website.

Do I qualify for the GIP?

Depending on whether you are an established business owner or a next generation business owner, there is a list of qualifications to be met. This includes having at least 3 years of business experience, and having invested at least $2.5 million in a Singapore company or a GIP fund that invests in Singapore companies. In order to apply for Permanent Resident (PR) status via the GIP, you must have resided in Singapore for more than half the time.

Do I need to renew my permanent residency?

Upon the formalisation of your PR status, you will receive a Re-Entry Permit which lasts for 5 years and allows you to maintain PR status outside of Singapore. This REP can be renewed if you meet the REP renewal criteria by the 5th year of PR status.

How do I apply for the GIP?

Step 1: Submit an application

The applicant should submit completed GIP Application forms (both online and hardcopy) to EDB. The applicant will then be invited for an interview with EDB, and the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) will issue an Approval-in-Principle (AIP) status to the applicant.

Step 2: Provide documents for verification

Upon making the investment, the applicant should provide evidence of investments and submit the Investment Undertaking on the Terms and Conditions of the investment made. Upon verification of investment documents, ICA will issue a Final Approval Letter.

Step 3: Obtain PR Status

Within 12 months of the Final Approval Letter, the applicant must formalise his/her Permanent Residence in Singapore.

For more specific information, refer to EDB’s GIP Factsheet. Ensure that you are aware of the requirements to be met before application in order to have a higher chance of success.
